Integrative Health and Healing Staff Nurse

The Holistic Registered Nurse (HRN) is accountable for defined groups of patients. Position may entail other duties as assigned and travel to other campuses including Inpatient, CLC and Outpatient Clinic settings. The HRN meets acute and continuing care components for integrative health; formulation of local integrative health policies and procedures; expansion of integrative health therapies offered to inpatients and outpatients in addition to clinical modalities of care; Facilitator for the Integrative Health Committee; coordination of education and mentorship for Healing Touch practitioners; implementation of Healing Touch in clinical settings and documentation in the medical records; coordination of yoga programs and other integrative health therapies offered for inpatients and outpatients; develops integrative health therapies; and participation in VA sponsored integrative health conference calls and workshops. The HRN will serve as a Liaison for inpatient and outpatient care transitions. Provides training and mentorship to direct care providers on the role of integrative health in the care of patients, staff and caregivers by:
Developing, scheduling and providing training and in-services for staff. Mentoring direct care staff while they are providing patient care on the benefits and practical application of selected integrative modalities. Mentoring staff to gain advanced training and certification in integrative approaches. Serves as liaison with medical staff on the role of integrative medicine for staff. Provide in-services to medical staff groups as required. Produce and distribute regular updates on integrative health initiatives being implemented in the hospital to medical staff. Provides integrative therapies to patients by:
Providing comprehensive evaluations of client's integrative medicine needs. Developing treatment plans to address identified needs. Providing integrative therapies as indicated. Maintains clinical records as outlined in facility policies and procedures. Maintain outcomes data as required by the Program Manager. Participates in hospital committees and meetings as requested. Participates in quality improvement projects. Additional duties as requested by the Program Manager/Nurse Manager. The HRN is a non-supervisory position who reports to the Whole Health Program Manager / Nurse Manager and provides care to all sites of care within the Orlando VA Healthcare System. Work Schedule:

Must be a citizen or national of the United States of America. Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies at the time the program was completed by the applicant:
The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing; The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.e., Puerto Rico) of the United States, or the District of Columbia. Experience:
A Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN) is preferred. Whole Health Coach Certification, Holistic Nursing or Comprehensive Integrative Health modality such as Yoga or other related; Demonstrated ability in previous assignments to make critical decisions in stressful environments; Demonstrated dependability for duty and flexibility in work assignments and hours in previous assignments; Competency in Complementary Integrative Health Practice, preferred; Exceptional Customer Service; Experience with Veterans; Basic Life Support Certification; Full performance level skills to exercise independent technical judgement related to Health and Wellness Coaching without the need to readily available supervision. Grade Determinations:
The following criteria must be met in determining the grade assignment of candidates, and if appropriate, the level within a grade:
Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse II - A BSN with approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing or related field with a BSN and approximately 1-2 year's of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree in nursing or meets basic requirements for appointment and has doctoral degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse III - Master's degree in nursing or related field with BSN and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Doctoral degree. Reference:
