Central Fill Pharmacist, Central Pharmacy - Orlando

The Fill Operation currently operates 15 hours a day, 6 days a week filling tens of thousands of prescriptions per day. The pharmacists verify filled prescriptions and the robotic dispensers canisters for accuracy of product, quantity, patient name, and other specific data elements. They manage and execute the maintenance and changes of products within the pharmacy and robotic equipment, and the overall daily production of filled prescriptions. They supervise Fill Lead Technicians, Fill Technicians, Fill Lead Specialists and Fill Specialists to maximize output and maintain compliance with state laws and rules, and Publix procedures.
Primary Responsibilities
supervising and executing all the processes used in the central fill operation and maximizing the total daily capacity achieved. This may require on the fly adjustments and decision making to processes, settings of machinery and personnel
verification of filled prescriptions for accuracy and quality using the Symphony computer system
providing assistance in managing legal compliance with state and federal laws and rules regulating the practice of pharmacy, including answering questions from associates, regulatory agencies and others regarding Publix policies, and complying with all laws and regulations affecting prescription filling
providing assistance in verifying the movement of inventory ($16 million or more per week) moving into and out of the facility through cycle counting, assisting with quarterly inventories, and ensuring Loss Prevention steps and procedures are followed.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's or PharmD degree in Pharmacy
1 year experience as a retail pharmacist
Florida state pharmacist license
knowledge of Pharmacy Law
ability to understand complex software (Symphony) and technical robotic systems, and explain how they work to new associates and Board of Pharmacy inspectors, and corporate officers. Envision and communicate ideas for potential improvements.
ability to work most hours of the day, currently 5am to 10pm Sunday Friday, w/flexibility for a varied schedule to cover occasional system maintenance, emergencies, etc. and work most holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
additional classes and degrees or other education in addition to pharmacy degree
experience in production or other technical or manufacturing operations
Pharmacist license in Florida and other southeastern states where we might eventually expand this service (ex. GA, SC, TN and NC)
knowledge of Publix retail pharmacy operations, including Publix's pharmacy policies and procedures, and goals
knowledge of the Innovation/ Symphony pharmacy operating system, and the operation of high tech equipment associated with the robotic operation.
knowledge of the storage and shipping requirements and restrictions of prescription drugs. The characteristics of shipping services (Publix trucks, couriers, Printing Services and FedEx, etc.), including restrictions imposed by weather and holidays.
knowledge of complex systems and production concepts, including the need for inputs, rates, monitoring and feedback.
Hours of Work Monday Sunday 5am to 10pm 7-days a week, flexibility for a varied schedule including holidays Frequency of Pay Weekly Minimum Base Pay 2,095.00 Maximum Base Pay 2,300.00 Potential Annual Pay with Bonus 118,009 - 129,557 Year End Bonus To reward associates for their contributions to the company for the calendar year, Publix provides a Holiday Bonus in December. In the first year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to 15 hours of pay, and in the second year of continuous employment the bonus is equal to one week's pay if associate remains employed through issue date of the bonus check.
