Night Nurse
GENERAL
Summary:
The Night Nurse, reporting to the Nurse Supervisor and under minimal supervision, is responsible for the nursing care of Florida Heart Group patients in the Hospital during their overnight stay.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB
Responsibilities:
Uses the nursing process and Florida Heart Group (FHG) protocols to provide care to patients for their cardiac needs
Consults with the on call physician for any skill set and patient condition outside of the scope of practice for a registered nurse
Triages all calls from the answering service from 7pm to 7am for FHG Orlando, FH Winter Park, FH Altamonte and outpatient home calls.
Assesses via phone and bedside observations patients' condition and status. Collects and records data for the on call physician for inpatient and outpatient calls.
Schedules patient procedures needed after 7pm for the following day to include order sets, lab work, medications and consenting for the correct procedures ordered by FHG physicians
Reports any abnormal findings of lab work or diagnostic tests to the on call physician
Creates, organizes and divides the daily rounding list for the physicians
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
Excellent communication skills particularly listening. Demonstrates ability to communicate by reading, writing legibly, speaking and comprehending English effectively in order to carry out job requirements.
Attention to detail
Critical thinking skills and sound decision maker
Proficient in computer, Microsoft office, EMR and telephone skills
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within a medical subspecialt
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS PREFERRED:
Bilingual
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing
Cardiac experience
Night shift experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current, valid Florida State of Board Nursing Registered Nursing License
ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certifications
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
