The Opportunity:


Join our dynamic housing department as a Maintenance Mechanic II, where you'll play a crucial role in troubleshooting issues, providing service, and responding to requests from students, faculty, and staff. The selected candidate must possess intermediate maintenance repair skills, particularly in building systems such as chilled and hot water pumps, electrical, and plumbing systems.



Responsibilities:


  • Perform planned scheduled work, preventive maintenance (PM), and PM repairs for plumbing, electrical, painting, and carpentry tasks.

  • Conduct corrective repairs in response to reported issues, restoring functionality to building systems.

  • Support work by assisting with central shops, contractors, other zones, and departments, as well as events on campus.

  • Complete work orders in a timely manner, recording labor hours, action codes, shop stock, and trade notes.

  • Maintain and repair various building components, including plumbing equipment, lighting components, heating elements, and ventilation systems.


Minimum Qualifications:


Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for multiple trades and 3 years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma and 3 years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219.

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Flexible for utilization by trade with the most urgent requirements.

  • Ability to read blueprints and use various electrical meters.

  • Demonstrated experience with powered drain-cleaning machines and knowledge of water and gas shut-off points.

  • Painting knowledge and skills.

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

  • Ability to communicate in conversational English to:
    work effectively with customers and team members; operate electronic equipment (iPod Touch for AiM PM checkpoints); comprehend standard safety procedures and utilize telecommunication devices.

  • Proficiency in computer programs, including Microsoft Office and IWMS.

  • Ability to use approved chemicals for daily job functions.


Health Assessment Required:


UCF policy requires completion and passing of a physical exam for this position.

Special Instructions to the Applicants:


This position is eligible for 5% Shift Differential Pay.


Position requires a valid driver's license. The position may involve driving to various locations on and off campus to conduct University business.


May be required to participate in respiratory, medical examination, and training in use of respirators.
