Orange County Animal Services is proud to be the municipal shelter serving Florida's fifth most populous county.

Orange County Animal Services is a large and evolving animal welfare organization, with approximately 100 full-time employees and is aided by support networks of 450 volunteers, 400 foster parents and more than 80 local rescue groups.
The mission of Animal Services is to protect both the people and pets of Orange County.
The shelter receives approximately 15,000 homeless pets annually and strives to find as many as possible appropriate placement.
Animal Services staff comprises four distinct teams - an enforcement operations team responsible for upholding local law in regards to animal welfare, a kennel team that handles the intakes and day-to-day care for the hundreds of shelter guests, a clinic team that handles the medical care and spay/neuter surgeries for the shelter animals and a communications team, which facilitate reclaims, adoptions, rescue placements and foster arrangements.

Representative Duties The Animal Services Dispatcher p prforms specialized communication and dispatching work involving the operations activities of the department.
This is responsible communications and processing work.
An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for receiving, processing and responding to calls from the general public, Law Enforcement agencies and other emergency services regarding service, prioritizing and dispatching personnel accordingly.
Work requires independent judgement and is performed under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor.
Must be able to multitask under high stress situations.
Must be able to hear, comprehend and speak clearly.
May be required to complete dispatcher training within six months of hire.
May be required to maintain a home telephone.
May be required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.
May be required to respond and assist at Emergency shelters.
May be required to understand and follow the procedures and disciplines required of uniform enforcement agencies.
Must be able to type and have basic understanding of Fax machines, Printer/Copiers, computers and radios.
Basic knowledge in radio communications, will learn the phenetic alphabet and ten codes, phone or computers to send crews, vehicles or other field units to appropriate locations.
And other duties as assigned to fulfill the needs of the division.
Minimum Qualifications Graduation from high school or equivalent and one year of experience in a multi-task environment communicating directly with the general public using a radio or telephone.
Proficient in English (oral and written).
