9 Orlando, FL Orlando, FL Full-time Full-time $20 an hour $20 an hour 3 days ago 3 days ago 3 days ago Summary/Objective The Theater Technician & Projectionist is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of both projection systems, audio-video engineering, electronics, lighting, and other related subjects.
They oversee the technical training in related fields and must ensure that standards for image and sound quality are met.
They will assist the Technical Director of Theater Operations in signage and building the theater schedule.
Essential Functions Operates both 15/70 film and digital cinema projection systems and their associated equipment.
Repairs audio/visual equipment - able to perform basic service and repair, and operates a wide range of electrical, computer, electronic, and optical equipment.
Maintains the cleanliness of projection equipment, projection booth, and theater office areas.
Keeps accurate records of equipment readings and film passes.
Inputs show attendance data to database and reports demographic and film royalty information.
Advises on the requisitions of parts, supplies and materials when needed.
Regularly inspects equipment and performs maintenance tasks and repairs as needed.
Works closely with Technical Director of Theater Operations along with contracted service personnel on troubleshooting and repair of equipment in a timely fashion.
Trains and updates projection employees on all projection standards and procedures.
Ingests digital film content and keys, builds show playlists for digital projection system, and prepares new film prints to be run.
Supports Manager on building theater film schedule and keeps track of theater usage for unique events.
Operates, maintains, and trains projectionist on live audiovisual equipment for unique events in the theaters.
Fulfills the role of Theater Operator and Queue Operator as needed.
Provides an important level of customer service to all OSC (Orlando Science Center) visitors and employees.
Performs light administrative tasks and other related duties as assigned.
Fills in for on call needs to cover projectionist needs, equipment failures and emergencies.
Ensures Theater staff positions are covered and conducts pre-shift meeting for theater operations when Technical Director of Theater Operations is not onsite.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High school graduate or equivalent.
Experience & Certifications:
Experience operating audiovisual equipment, projection.
Experience with Film and/or Cinema Projection Systems preferred.
Must be familiar with the audio/visual equipment and able to perform basic service and repair, and operate a wide range of electrical, computer, electronic, and optical equipment.
Preferred Qualifications Experience in projection equipment operation and maintenance preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility This position is directly responsible for the training of all projection employees in technical training needs for theaters.
Physical Demands Ability to remain in a stationary position.
Moves throughout the museum.
Ascends/descends stairs throughout the museum.
Ascends/descends ladders or other equipment to perform various tasks.
Observes and reacts to the needs of guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Communicates and exchanges accurate information with guests, staff, volunteers, and community partners in a variety of formats including in-person, electronically, and over the phone.
Operates a computer and/or office equipment efficiently and accurately.
Close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to focus.
Understand and distinguish speech and other sounds (machinery, alarms, equipment).
Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 225 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level.
Rarely works in outdoor environments.
Frequently works in indoor environments.
Coping with demands and stresses associated with job and work environment.
Kneeling, crouching, stooping, crawling (frequently) Up to 225 pounds Expected Hours of Work & Travel This position is full time and must be able to work weekends and after hour events as needed.
Telecommuting This position is required to be onsite 100% of the time.
