Candidates with judicial clerkship experience (particularly in federal courts) would likely be well-suited for the Civil Rights/Employment Litigation position.
The position would involve handling Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Section 1983, whistleblower, wrongful discharge, retaliation, First Amendment, and police liability claims at all stages of litigation as well as administrative proceedings.
The firm has a diverse litigation practice focused upon the representation of private entities and governmental clients, including national insurers and prominent self-insured companies, in state and federal court.
Job Description:
Responsible for handling all aspects of civil litigation, under the supervision of a partner, to include preparation of pleadings, motions, responses to discrimination complaints, and other filings; participation in discovery, including attendance at depositions; investigation of allegations of discrimination and other employment related matters; conducting witness interviews; attend hearings, mediations, and trial; reporting to and communicating with clients, witnesses, and adjusters; legal research and writing; and, the analysis and evaluation of cases.
Specific duties and responsibilities would be assigned based upon the applicant's level of experience and demonstrated abilities.
A qualified candidate must possess the ability to effectively advocate, analyze, express ideas, present facts, and advance legal arguments; possess focus necessary to manage priorities and accomplish tasks in a timely and efficient manner, so as to meet strict deadlines; demonstrate effectiveness and diligence in advising clients; the ability to promote the firm's strengths and capabilities to existing or potential clients; and a strong desire to excel and develop skills as a litigator in order to contribute to the firm's high standards and reputation for excellence and ethics in the community.
