The position will associate to our Additives and Chemistry Group in the laboratory of Advanced fibers.
The group is well established internationally in polymer additive chemistry.
A more recent focus of the group is the development of sustainable polymers.
To strengthen activities in this area, we investigate development of functional epoxy based vitrimers.
Epoxy resin are commonly used in composite manufacturing and at the end of life they are either incinerated or landfilled, leading to pollution problems and loss of useful resources.
Recently we have invented a recyclable flame retardant epoxy vitrimers which shows promise in the development of fire safe fiber reinforced composites and self healing coatings.
The proposed position will address in detail the polymer structure-material properties relationship evaluation and full chemical recycling of such vitrimers.
In addition, new chemistries based on polyesters, polyimines, vinylogous urethane etc will be explored.

D.
in organic or polymer chemistry with an experience in design and development of covalent adaptable networks.
Knowledge of epoxy thermoset synthesis and fiber reinforced composites will be an advantage.
Creation of own ideas and strong self-motivation is highly desired.
Candidates with demonstrated research skills and high quality publications will be considered.
Fluency in English is required, further knowledge of German (or another language spoken in Switzerland) is a plus.
To be considered as a scientist, prior experience of 2-3 years as Post Doc is necessary.
You should be interested to develop and strengthen your academic record as well as your industrial network.
