Responsibilities:
Support Strategic Stakeholder Management efforts by facilitating and implementing effective stakeholder relationship and issues management strategies to advance business priorities and reputation with external stakeholder groups including but not limited to reactive media (traditional and nontraditional) and non-governmental organizations.
Liaise and coordinate with client owners of external stakeholder relationships.
Support securing positive, proactive news coverage for the commission.
Assist in developing and managing communication and stakeholder engagement plans and messaging with external stakeholders.
Support coordination for implementation of client's community engagement roadmap.
Support activities to ensure positive representation of client for interviews in print, online, radio, television, etc.
Maintain good working relationships with media, industry contacts, and other agencies.
Support development and implementation of stakeholder communication plans to increase positive, proactive image and brand awareness.
Support consistency in messaging internally and externally and develop content for a wide range of platforms, including but not limited to online news channels, industry/trade publications, opinion pieces, and social media.
Support management of issues, crisis, and risk matters, including proactively identifying potential issues and developing well-thought-out response plans, ensuring consistency across channels.
Support development and management of relationships with external stakeholders; build and maintain positive, collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders to identify, manage, and resolve business issues, and coordinate decision making, communications, and outreach with all external stakeholders.
Develop and implement strategies to engage with and educate key stakeholders to positively influence business outcomes, build advocacy and support the company's long-term strategy.
Implement strategic stakeholder engagement and communications plans.
Support development and implementation of risk analysis and mitigation strategies regarding stakeholder relationships.
Network and partner with key stakeholders to understand their concerns, perspectives, current work, and upcoming projects and mandates.
Support management and tracking of media inquiries/requests and resolution.
Assist in drafting media responses.
Develop reactive media messaging and communication pieces including FAQs, news releases, media kits, bios, fact sheets, talking points, etc.
Track, analyze and report media coverage (occurrences, volume and sentiment).
Assist in preparing subject-matter experts for events, interviews, and public-speaking opportunities with key external stakeholders including reactive media training, presentation guidance, etc.
Participate in/support liaise with partners and peer utilities regarding joint initiatives and events like press conferences, groundbreakings, and response to crisis situations such as storms or any disaster, natural or man-made.
Participate in and support planning and management of public relations and community events, programs and initiatives and alignment of event/program outcomes with strategic plan and goals.
Evaluate the effectiveness of events and stakeholder engagement activities to maximize stakeholder engagement and feedback.
Provide administrative support as needed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations, or related area of study from an accredited college or university Minimum of one (3) years of experience in stakeholder management and communication strategies and initiatives (required).
Stakeholder Management:
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with the people and organizations who have the most impact on OUC - managing their expectations and requirements.
Public Relations:
Demonstrate capability to support/manage a variety of public relations techniques for brand-building publicity with a strong emphasis on national and local media relations programs.
Issues and Reputation Awareness and Support:
Demonstrate capability to anticipate and proactively and effectively address issues affecting brand or enterprise.
Executive Communications:
Demonstrate capability to write on behalf of key executives, maintaining a consistent tone and narrative over time.
Integrated Communications:
Demonstrate capability to identify/ contribute to identifying opportunities for programs that can be leveraged across communication channels to positively position OUC's reputation with external stakeholders.
Content Management:
Demonstrate capability to create and manage content over multiple platforms (print and online) that are engaging and enhance brand image, site traffic, and community engagement.
Manage multiple priorities Demonstrate effective communication skills, verbal, written, and interpersonally Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Power Point, Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.
).

Write excellent executive documents, news releases, and communications plans, and analyze/interpret media coverage.
Demonstrate a thorough understanding of industry-related, organizational, and departmental best practices, ordinances, and laws.
