50 an hour Summary/Objective The Exhibit Technology Specialist is responsible for the maintenance, research, and integration of electronics, audio/video, PC hardware and software for Orlando Science Center's exhibits departments.
This position has a 60/40 split between maintaining and improving current exhibits and the research and development of new exhibitry.
This position supports building written procedures on exhibit maintenance as well as builds troubleshooting procedures, provides improvements to existing exhibits, and contributes to the design of new exhibits and their visitor interface.
Essential Functions Assists exhibit technicians with repairs and serves as a knowledge base for the teams.
Demonstrates expertise in software and hardware computer systems including Windows (XP - 12), OS X (v10.
3 - 10.
15), Linux.
Identifies and diagnoses chronic or systemic technology defects in individual exhibits which reduces their efficiency and reliability or compromises the intended function.
Provides and/or implements solutions.
Knowledge of the principles, methods, and equipment used in development and programming of microcontrollers, PC's, show controllers and audio/video equipment, along with a working knowledge of various programming languages such as Python or Arduino.
Assists with audio/visual needs associated with exhibits, live programming, and special events.
Assists with the development of new exhibits & grant projects by making recommendations to the safe, efficient, and effective use of technology.
Develops custom software for a variety of microcontrollers, PC, and specialty show control systems.
Documents all wiring diagrams, code and electronic components utilized in new exhibits.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications Education:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience & Certifications:
3-5 years relevant work experience.
Preferred Qualifications Ideal candidate possesses an inventive spirit.
Demonstrates initiative to work without direct supervision.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Ability to read complex and wiring diagrams.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Good working knowledge and the ability to troubleshoot computer, electronic, electrical, and audio/video systems necessary.
Ability to complete tasks in a timely manner.
Ability to use a wide variety of hand and power tools.
Experience with interactive software such as Adobe Air, Flash and Director.
Ability to work in Auto CAD, Sketch Up, or Fusion360.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Candidate must be responsible for the timely completion of assigned tasks and skilled in the use of a wide variety of hand and power tools.

Understand and distinguish speech and other sounds (machinery, alarms, equipment).
Manipulates and moves components weighing up to 25 pounds, including those that may be low to the ground or above eye level.
Occasionally works in outdoor environments.
Frequently works in indoor environments.
Coping with demands and stresses associated with job and work environment.
Kneeling, crouching, stooping, and crawling - Frequently Weight Levels - Lift, Push, Pull Up to 100 pounds Expected Hours of Work & Travel This position is full time and primarily works Monday-Friday, 8:
30am-5pm.
Nights and weekends required as needed.
Hours can vary based on the needs of the organization.
Telecommuting This position is required to be onsite 100% of the time.
