The Marketing Specialist (Public Relations) for SeaWorld Orlando supports the Marketing Communications team in garnering earned media coverage for the Orlando parks and their new attractions, consumer events, SeaWorld Rescue operations and more.
Create and execute publicity campaigns to achieve the parks' business goals/objectives and enhance the brand Track media coverage and create robust reports for internal leadership Process media ticket requests Respond to inbound media inquiries in a timely manner Manage PR inbox, maintain online media relations webpage Write press releases, media alerts and other written communications for public consumption if needed Build and maintain media relationships in key source markets and throughout Florida Participate in in-studio media appearances, on-site media visits hosted media events Perform with a positive attitude and team focus while being results and deadline oriented Perform other duties as assigned What it takes to succeed:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Mass Communications, Journalism or related field required At least 3 years practical experience in public relations, communications, writing, creativity or campaign planning/execution required Experience with news media, either as a public relations practitioner or journalist; understanding of story development and selection a plus Experience developing productive relationships with traditional and non-traditional news media Outstanding written, verbal and visual communications skills and ability to convey messages clearly and persuasively Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Knowledge of social media and social networking, publicity and media tactics Ability to understand a strategy and use critical and creative thinking to achieve the desired outcome Ability to handle multiple priorities, be able to handle change and be able to perform well under pressure Availability to work varying shifts/hours based on business need, to include opening, mid-, and closing shifts; nights, weekends, and holidays 5 - 7 years' experience in public relations experience preferred Prior experience at a theme park or accredited zoological facility preferred Bi-lingual; fluent in Spanish preferred What else is important:
Have a valid Driver's license and able to meet company driving guidelines Be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry up to 50 lbs.
Perform the following physical activities:
kneeling, squatting, bend floor-to waist/waist-to-overhead, reach overhead, simple grasp and fine hand manipulation tasks (use of tools/keyboard/writing).
Be able to work indoors and outdoors, in varying weather, to include extreme heat.
Work regularly Monday through Friday but with flexibility based on business need to include weekends, evenings, and holidays.
