At our Orlando, Florida facility we manufacture airport ground support equipment, including aircraft deicers, aircraft tow tractors, cargo loaders and transporters. This Engineering Manager for New Product Development is responsible for managing a team of engineers, designers and drafters that work on the design of new Ground Support Equipment vehicles, and major new options and upgrades for those products. The incumbent will effectively manage a team with diverse technical skill sets, including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical and control systems engineering and design. that work on multiple projects with overlapping, and sometimes conflicting timelines. He or she will be responsible for scheduling, managing and delivering multiple engineering projects with overlapping, and sometimes conflicting timelines. Responsibilities Daily management of NPD team consisting of 10 to 20 engineers, designers, and drafters, and when required, engineering contractors and service providers. Interact with JBT's management, product line engineering managers, sales force, field service and customers to ensure that new products meet requirements and are competitive in the global market. Develop and track detailed schedules, allocate resources, and manage the timely completion of multiple overlapping projects. Track and control the cost of products under development, and drive value engineering efforts. Proactively communicate schedule and product cost risks to management. Interact with suppliers and JBT sourcing, purchasing and manufacturing to ensure the timely completion of prototype vehicles, testing, validation and production startup. Ensure the quality of the engineering, design and documentation work through adherence to standards and procedures, peer reviews, formal design reviews, product testing and validation. Help develop new, or improved internal processes for areas like:
project management, lean engineering management, value engineering, compliance tracking, prototype build, test and validation, and production startup of new products Qualifications Education and
Experience:
Bachelor of Science in an engineering discipline, 10 years relevant technical experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 5 years of experience in managing or directing engineering teams in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of engineering principles and CAD, PDM and ERP systems. Knowledge of heavy industrial vehicles, including a good understanding of the basics of diesel and electrical drive systems, lifting equipment and aerial devices, and hydraulic, electrical and control systems. Understanding of regulatory requirements for industrial equipment, including US and international standard bodies and requirements. Knowledge of the Ground Support Equipment business, or of a similar industry Specialized knowledge and abilities:

Ability to build strong relationships with internal customers and suppliers based on competence, integrity and trust. Demonstrated ability to plan and prioritize to meet challenging project objectives and timelines. Ability to lead cross functional teams and work with others in the organization without direct line management authority Strong understanding of business practices including product development, manufacturing, sourcing, and quality management processes Strong analytical skills, including ability to query business systems, manipulate data in Excel and interpret results Effective written and oral communication skills including preparing and delivering presentations at the executive level Must be comfortable working within time constraints and working with multiple priorities Ability to work productively and cohesively in a diverse and multicultural environment Training Requirements (licenses, programs, or certificates):

Work Environment- While this position is primarily in an office setting, extensive exposure and work in the manufacturing facility will be required. Visits to manufacturing and test areas will result in exposure to high noise levels, hot or cold ambient temperatures, congested work spaces and the exposure to potentially hazardous work environments normally associated with heavy duty manufacturing activities Travel Requirements - Minimal (less than 10%) domestic and international travel will be required Physical Demands- Exposure to climbing ladders, working on machines, and working at heights other than ground level. Valid driver's license and ability to safely drive and operate JBT products required Supervisor Responsibilities- This position has 10 to 20 technical professionals (engineers, designers, drafters) as direct reports Type of supervision this position works under:
(close, moderate, minimal) This position will lead the New Product Development engineering effort for Ground Support Equipment with limited direct supervision. Relationship Responsibilities Regular communication with the other engineering teams, engineering managers and VP for Product Development. Regular communication with internal customers, suppliers, customers, and outside service providers. Daily management of Technical Publications department and staff. Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Engineering ManagementEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
