The Human Factors Engineer is responsible for performing human factors engineering activities performed on the ML2 project. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. The Human Factors Engineer communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to the Systems Engineering Group Supervisor (Systems EGS) or Systems Engineering Manager (SEM). The Human Factors Engineer reviews and approves key systems engineering documents and must have a broad knowledge of industry and regulatory standards, and design criteria pertinent to human factors engineering. The Human Factors Engineer is required to have a good knowledge of Bechtel's administrative practices Plans, develops, coordinates and reviews engineering work for the human factors discipline on the ML2 project. Coordinates and interfaces with the day-to-day technical work of discipline engineers, scientists, specialists, designers, drafters, and technologists. Communicates complex technical issues and recommends solutions to the Systems EGS or SEM. Facilitates technical discussions with third parties (client, suppliers, regulators) Prepares or oversees the preparation of human factors discipline estimates and work plan in accordance with project scope, schedule and budget, and manages implementation and performance accordingly. Estimates staffing needs and schedules and assigns work to meet schedule dates. Coordinates with client representatives as delegated to obtain their approval on phases of work. Reviews and approves key engineering documents related to the human factors discipline. Coordinates assigned engineering work with other project groups. ' Mentors engineers, scientists, designers and drafters by providing appropriate on-the-job training for their professional development. Promotes the creation of a work environment, supported by leadership, which fosters openness, trust, communication, teamwork, empowerment, innovation, and satisfaction. Develops or reviews all human factors engineering (HFE) reports and documentation. Reviews and approves design documentation that incorporates human factors features. Knowledge of systems, calculations, equipment, applications of methods, materials, and computers used within the human factors discipline. Knowledge of engineering work planning and control methods. Knowledge of precedents in the discipline and of principles and practices of related disciplines. Knowledge of related construction practices and the economics involved. Knowledge of industry /regulatory codes and standards, and design and/or layout criteria pertinent to the human factors discipline, including HF-STD-001 B and MIL-STD-1472G. Skill in oral and written communication. Demonstrated skill in leadership. Position Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related field from an accredited university or college with at least 9 years of relevant technical experience. At least 9 years of experience performing human factors analysis. Must have or be able to obtain EIT/PE certification within 1 year of hire. Must have the right to work and remain in the U.S. without sponsorship Must be able to complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check. Possess a detailed understanding of Human Factors Engineering principles and methods. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position
Salary Range:
$150K -- $200K
Minimum Qualification
Data Science & Machine Learning, Systems Architecture & EngineeringEstimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
